Golden Milk for a Better You

Good morning all!

I hope you had a wonderful and productive day yesterday and an even better nights rest.

Being productive can take many forms. It could be getting a large task out of the way that has been on your to-do list for some time, tackling several small things throughout the day, or being able to fit in a workout at the gym in between work, meetings, and errands. In any case, being productive is rewarding, but it can be exhausting at the same time and by the end of the day you're ready to get in bed, read a good book, catch up on a show, or simply just crash.

If you're wanting to put an exclamation point on your day and get a great nights sleep, then you should definitely give this remedy a whirl. I have been drinking this for some time now right before bed and it's been a life saver.

What is this wonder drink I speak of, it's known by many names but most commonly it's called Turmeric Milk or Golden Milk. It's a simple mixture of:

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric

  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional)

Directions:

  1. Boil the milk in a small sauce pan

  2. Stir in the turmeric powder

  3. Reduce the heat and let simmer for 3-4 minutes

  4. Remove from heat and serve either hot OR warm for the best benefits

Note: If you're lactose intolerant, substitute milk for either a lactose-free milk or my favorite, Almond Breeze Hint of Honey Almond Milk.

I know, I keep saying how great this drink is, but I still haven't told you why it's so great. Well, let me tell you, some of the benefits include:

  • Aids in digestion, helps break down fat and boosts your metabolism

  • Helps accelerate muscle recovery

  • Acts as a sleep aid

  • Can boost immunity

  • Improve hormonal balance

  • Help with acne prevention

  • Aids in regulating menstrual cycle

  • Loaded with antioxidants

  • May help reduce inflammation and joint pain

  • Mood stimulant - reduces stress, anxiety and depression

Some additions to the Golden Milk base could be:

  1. Add a pinch of black pepper to help with a sore throat and/or infection

  2. Add a few cashews if you experience cramping at night

  3. Add a pinch of nutmeg if you have diabetes or want to help protect against heart disease

I hope you all give this drink a chance, you won't regret it!
